Meet Debbie Enman, Recreation Assistant. Debbie has been with the SRDA for over 7 years. She first came to us as a volunteer looking for something to keep her active after a couple of bad accidents which kept her at home recovering. Her daughter suggested she come to the SRDA. She was soon hired to help in the Recreation Department and has been an invaluable joy ever since! She is very grateful to have been able to continue working through the pandemic. When the Recreation Department was closed to the public, she moved to the Meals on Wheels office to help with paperwork and phone calls. She would call hundreds of clients each week to check in on them and make sure they were okay and had everything they needed to get through COVID. She was a gentle, reassuring voice to our most vulnerable clients and they appreciated every call.
Debbie moved to Colorado from Maine (explains the accent!) 22 years ago with her partner of 30 years to care for family and has made Pueblo her home. She has 4 kids, multiple grand & great grandkids and also “multiple” dogs that show her love and affection when she gets home from work. In her previous job she was the night manager at the ARC Thrift store for 15 years.
What she loves most about her job is the people she is in contact with every day. They are friendly and sweet. She says she loves to engage with new visitors, guiding them through what the SRDA has to offer. She says she is definitely a people person, as one recent visitor told her, “You are always so nice to everyone!”
While she tries to be a crafty person, her true love is plants & yardwork. She recently had a “She-Shed” built for her birthday and cannot wait until Spring to get out into her yard and start planting. Well, we all hope she enjoys the fruits of her labors this year.
Thank you, Debbie, for your outstanding work in serving SRDA clients! You are always so uplifting and greet everyone with a smile!
